Meet the Team
Dara Belohlavek
Dara is the owner/founder of The Green Room and has lived in Asheville for the past 9 years. Once an elementary school teacher for Buncombe County, she decided to leave the profession and seek a job that provided more creative freedom and joy. She worked at a local florist for 6 years before opening The Green Room in 2024. Outside of work, she is a stained glass artist and is often found in the woods looking at moss.

Sami baker
Sami Baker is the co-founder of The Green Room. Graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Zoology, she has worked in many nature-oriented fields, with a particular interest in conservation. After moving to Asheville in 2019, she expanded her love for flower arranging and house plants while working at a local florist, where she and Dara met. Outside of work she dapples in photography, poetry, and spends a lot of time in the woods with her dog Chance.
Favorite Plant: Night-Blooming Cactus
Meet Chance, our security officer and quality control agent! In his free time you will find him frolicking in streams or playing ball. He is quite the goofball, but sweet as ever. Be sure to ask for a shake when you come in!
